We like silk, and have a great stock of more than 30 types of silk. Silk can be either very drapey and flowing like Charmeuse, or shiny and iridescent like silk dupioni. We have more than 100 colors of exceptionally fine dupioni, several styles of silk velvet including burnout silk velvet, several colors of charmeuse, silk gauze, silk organza, silk suiting fabrics and many other fine natural silks. Being in Austin, Texas where it always seems hot, we naturally have a lot of cotton. And all of the cotton we have is natural. Click on the navigation bar to the left to browse through our selection. We have real organic cotton, grown in pesticide free fields. Other cotton fabrics include real pure cotton Batik and Ikat, and many other cotton sewing fabrics including superfine cotton pique and natural cotton batiste.

Linens are also great for hot weather. Silk Road stocks a wide selection of natural linen in different weights. We have more than 50 colors of linen and several linen prints so have a look at our linen color charts on those pages. We have a wide variety of European linen, and at some of the best prices around. As linen is one of the oldest natural fibers, care is easy, just see our linen care recommendations. Just the Flax, ma'am.

The newest fiber in 30 years, tencel drapes, tencel breathes, tencel machine washes, tencel jumps over tall buildings and drips dry! We stock blends of tencel and Rayon as well as 100% tencel in solids and prints. Tencel is a very popular fabric, and our stock of tencel turns over quickly.

Button, buttons, we've got a lot of great buttons. We stock very unusual buttons: bone buttons, wood buttons, brass buttons, pewter buttons, glass buttons, and jet buttons. The main button page has more information and links to the button picture pages. Difficult to represent what we have at any one time, as the button fashion changes so fast. No, Silk Road does not get its buttons from the dry cleaners. We have added new Czechslovakian glass buttons to the glass button link.

We now have a section on fabric care, gleaned from the experiences of our staff and others. You might be surprised to know that practically everything you can buy at Silk Road is washable.

It is hard to get a feel for the color and texture of a fabric, no matter now hard you rub your computer screen. And because our inventory changes pretty quickly, we offer a Swatch Service so you can match the color and texture of what we have to what you need. From silk to cotton, we can send it all your way.
