Please read all instructions before emailing us. All the information we have for fabric care is on these pages. This is the entry page to our fabric care and stain removal section. Please be advised that this section is a work in progress: if you have suggestions and improvements let us know and we will factor them in for the good of the sewing community. Many of the suggestions in here came from our readers. And we need to say that these are suggestions. Not every technique will work on every fabric, and even different weaves of the same fabric may respond differently. Your results may likely be very different from even one day to the next. So we would like to repeat an Old African Proverb: Never test the depth of the river with both feet.Meaning, make a limited trial first. Throw a new dress into the washer and you might be disappointed. Try the treatment on a small, inconspicuous area or a small swatch of what you are planning to use first. Use this guide as a place to start and then use what works for you. Almost everything we sell (cotton, silk, linen, wool, velvets, the works) is washable. This does not mean that finished garments made out of these same fibers are washable. They might be washable, even though they are labeled 'Dry Clean Only', but they might shrink to be too small to fit your little sister. To find out the pitfalls and your best chance for success, read the fiber care pages carefully, just click the buttons to the left under 'Fabric Care'. And if all else fails, we sell fabric dye... Good Luck!
